Good afternoon Patriots, this is your Principal with your Weekly Patriot updates.
A variety of regular meetings will be held tomorrow on our fourth Monday of the month. Our Parent Advisory Committee, School Improvement Team, and Athletic Boosters all meet. We also continue to seek interested parents for leadership in our Community Partnership Academic Booster Club. If you are interested please contact me or Mrs. Mayo for more information.
This week student opportunities include College and Career Promise registration on Wednesday. Heather Robbins from CCC will be available in room 710. Please send any inquiries via email to your Counselor.
ECU's RIBN program for nursing students will have a presentation during 3rd and 4th period on Wednesday. Mr. Lancaster is our Counselor serving as the point of contact, so please email him with any questions on this opportunity.
There will be a Carteret Community College Trunk or Treat on Thursday, with Our Youth and Government Club participating. If you have not seen that YAG is also raising money for a State Conference, please check out our Social Media pages.
Traffic flow reminders: please ensure that you are following appropriate traffic patterns and safe driving behaviors. This includes prohibited student and parent traffic in the bus lot entrance. Additionally, please drive carefully at our arrival and dismissal time to ensure student safety.
Let's celebrate Patriot Athletics!
The Patriot Volleyball team had a great season, winning the regular season Conference Championship and advancing to the third round of states last week.
The Patriot Girls Golf has advanced to the States and will compete this week.
The Patriot Cross Country Teams had an incredible showing at the 5A East Regional Championship! The Women's Team earned 1st Place and the Men's Team earned 2nd Place.
The Patriot Soccer team took Croatan to overtime last week on Thursday.
The Patriot Cheer Team had a great showing at our Conference Meet this weekend.
Best of luck to all of our teams in the final weeks of the fall season. Winter tryouts begin on Wednesday.
Mark your calendars for Academic Awards Night coming on November 3rd. This includes our Character and Academic Achievement Awards and numerous Honor Societies. More information to come as the date approaches.

WCHS Student of the Month program recognizes students who exemplify Patriot Values in and out of the classroom. They are chosen by faculty each month. This initiative highlights students who demonstrate:

✅ Outstanding Attitude/Disposition
✅ Notable Consideration Towards Others

✅ Marked Improvement in Grades, Character, or Work Ethic

We are asking the community for "prizes" to give these students. In the past, the packages have included pens, free ice cream, t-shirts, cups, and other small "swag." Patriots, all students are required to attend homeroom on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025. A state-mandated lesson will be given during this time. Students who are absent from homeroom will be required to complete the lesson after school.
We’ll also hold Club Rush during homeroom! Clubs and activities at WCHS will have booths for freshmen and sophomores to sign up! This is your chance to explore the many clubs and activities at West Carteret. From football games to student organizations, we encourage everyone to get involved and build connections.

Students who still need to adjust their schedule can drop/add for the first FIVE days of school for course changes and TEN days of school for level changes.
If you need a change, please use the form link: https://forms.gle/5wCvNFgmoF8wTZ3p7 Students should complete the form once with ALL requests included.
Schedule changes will only be considered for the following reasons:
1️⃣ You have already taken the class and earned credit
2️⃣ You would like to choose a different elective
3️⃣ You would like to move up or down a level (Standard ↔ Honors)
4️⃣ You have a hole in your schedule (an empty period that needs to be filled)

On Monday 8/25, you’ll receive a new Technology User Agreement in homeroom.
✔️ On Tuesday, bring: your completed technology agreement (make sure your name and student IDare written clearly!) and your $15 technology fee
📌 You cannot receive a Chromebook without both of these items completed.
Important Notes:
* If you did not return your Chromebook or charger last year, or had intentional damage (including middle school charges), you’ll receive a fee slip in addition to the $15 fee.
* Both boxes on the technology user agreement must be checked for Chromebook access and take-home privileges in order to check out a device.
* Chromebooks are required for high school classes.
* Payment can be made on School Cash Online (preferred) or by bringing cash/check to your homeroom teacher.
