Hello, Patriot Families! This is your Principal, Justin Holt, with a few important reminders about our upcoming Open House this Wednesday, August 20th.
Grades 10–12:
Students may visit their scheduled classes and meet teachers in a floating format from 2:00–4:00 PM. During this time, they can also access information on Transportation, Technology, and Booster Clubs.
Grade 9 (Rising Freshmen):
We have a more detailed plan to welcome our incoming 9th graders:
5:00–5:40 PM: Students may visit classrooms and meet their teachers, also in a floating format.
@5:45 PM: Families will gather in the Auditorium for a brief welcome from school administration and student leaders.
Following this Welcome: Students will participate in a fun and engaging “Amazing Race” to explore the school and connect with peers. There will be recognition to the teams that excel together!
@6:30–7:30 PM: Students will enjoy a pizza social in the Cafeteria. We also look forward to providing tshirts to all our new Patriots.
While students compete in the “Amazing Race,” I’ll share a few remarks and answer any questions with parents. From 6:15 PM onward, parents can also visit stations for Transportation, Infinite Campus access, and Athletic/Academic Booster information. We will encourage signing up for School Cash Online to pay for student fees.
We look forward to welcoming our new Patriots and seeing all of our returning students at Open House!

NC College Connect is a groundbreaking initiative offering direct college admission to eligible high school seniors across the state for the 2025–2026 school year! Open to public high school seniors with a weighted GPA of 2.8 or higher who meet course requirements, students will be matched with colleges where they already qualify — no traditional application needed. Reminder for Rising Seniors!
Attention RISING WCHS Seniors! It's important to be aware of an essential requirement as you enter 12th grade. According to NC Legislation G.S.130A, all students are required to receive a booster of the meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4). 🌡💉
To comply with this mandate, please ensure that you receive the immunization booster within the first month of the 2025-26 school year. This is a crucial step in safeguarding your health and well-being during your senior year.
Remember, documentation of the booster can be provided to the school nurse in person at the school office. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Nurse. She will be more than happy to assist you!
We want to ensure that all seniors meet this requirement promptly and have a successful and healthy final year at WCHS. Stay on top of your immunization needs and help us create a safe and thriving learning environment for all. 💪🎓

Student Parking Pass Information 2025–2026 School Year
SENIORS (Class of 2026) – E-mail with your parking pass application will be sent Tuesday, August 12 at 12:00 PM. Seniors get first access to parking!
If you choose to join the Parking Spot Painting, your spot will be reserved for the entire school year. Seniors who don’t paint will have unreserved parking.
Senior Pass Pick-Up
• Painting your spot? Pick up your pass during Senior Paint Days (Aug 14–15). Bring $15 for painting and a sketch of your design for approval on Day 1. Rain date Aug 21.
• Not painting? Pick up your pass between 1–3 PM, Aug 18–22.
SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS – E-mail with parking pass information will be sent Friday, August 15 at 3:00 PM.
How to Secure Your Spot (All)
1. Check your e-mail for the Google Form application.
2. Complete the form and pay for your pass on School Cash Online.
3. Save your receipt (screenshot or printed copy) for pass pick-up.

🎨🚗 Class of 2026 – Senior Parking Spot Painting! 🎨🚗
It’s time to make your mark on the WCHS senior lot! August 14 & 15 from 9 AM-3 PM
Day 1 - August 14 - Bring $15 (checks payable to WCHS SGA) to paint and a sketch of your design for approval. Choose your spot & paint the base layer.
Day 2 - August 15 - Add the decorative part of your design.
Important: Students must provide all their own materials. You must fill out the correct parking lot form (forthcoming from admin) and pay for your pass. Watch socials for a rain plan if needed on the morning of the 14th.

Senator Ted Budd will host a U.S. Service Academy Day on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Rittling Conference Center (2nd floor), Davidson-Davie Community College.
This is a valuable opportunity for high school students and families to:
• Learn about the five U.S. military service academies
• Meet representatives from each academy
• Get answers to questions about eligibility, nominations, and more
Students of all grade levels and their families are encouraged to attend.
The 2025 Service Academy Nominations Application is now open and will remain available through October 31, 2025.

🔹 Students should complete the form ONCE with all requests included.
Schedule changes will only be considered for the following reasons:

3️⃣ You would like to move up or down a level (Standard ↔ Honors)
4️⃣ You have a hole in your schedule (an empty period that needs to be filled)

Effective Thursday, July 24, 2025, we will be switching our student email system from NCEdCloud to Classlink. This change is designed to streamline your access to all the tools you use for learning.
What does this mean for you?
You will need to change the way you log in to access your school email and other online portals. Please follow these new steps carefully:
Go to our school website: Visit carteretcountyschools.org.
Click on "Portal": You will find the "Portal" link in the upper-right corner of the homepage.
Login with your new credentials: When presented with the login screen, please use the following format for your username and password:
Username: Your two-digit graduation year followed by your first initial, middle initial, and the first seven letters of your last name. Do not use any hyphens, dashes, or spaces.
Example (last name 7 letters or less): If you are an 8th-grade student this year, and your name is Mickey James Mouse, your username would be 30mjmouse.
Example (last name 8 or more letters): If you are a 6th-grade student this year, and your name is Peter Parker Spider-Man, your username would be 32ppspiderm. (Note: the hyphen is removed, and it is only the first 7 letters of the last name)
Password: Your full student ID number.
Please make sure to remember these new login details. If you encounter any issues after July 24th, please reach out to your teacher or the school's IT support for assistance.
